Old Joyent (Do Not Use)

Peter Gale June 20, 2012 Announcements

Dear Customers, Partners and Adoption Program Members,

We have consolidated our Help Desk ticket systems into a single system to cover both our Public Cloud and SDC customers. This change is being made in order to enable our entire support team to service all customer requests for all types of customers. This will further enhance our geographical/timezone coverage and provide a broader range of skills and expertise that can be applied directly to resolving issues.

The new system is at https://help.joyent.com.

All your existing open tickets are in the new system so you can add new comments/updates as required.

You should already have received an email asking you to set your password on the new system. If not please go to help.joyent.com and register using the same email address you use in this helpdesk.

This old help desk system will remain active for the foreseeable future to enable you to review old, closed tickets if required.

If you have any questions please open a ticket in the new system.

Best regards

Peter Gale

Dear Joyent Customers and Partners:

Today Joyent released an updated platform image for both the SDC 6.5.3 and 6.5.4 releases. This update, along with the release notes, is available from the software download site at:

download.joyent.com/partner

in the .../6.5.4/OS_Upgrade_1 and .../6.5.3/OS_Upgrade_4 directories.

For Joyent Adoption Program users, a new build will be made available on the download site. Please feel free to contact Joyent Support (smartsupport.joyent.com) for a regenerated download link if needed.

This OS Upgrade primarily addresses a CERT vulnerability (see http://www.kb.cert.org/vuls/id/MORO-8V9FQC), that could allow for privilege escalation or denial of service from untrusted users inside of zones. Due to the CERT vulnerability, which is a widespread multi-platform security vulnerability, it is very important that this is applied at the earliest opportunity.

There are a few additional issues addressed in this OS Update that are detailed in the release notes.

Please contact Joyent Support (smartsupport.joyent.com) if you have any questions or issues.

Best regards,

Dear Customers and Partners,

We wanted to inform you that we have posted a software maintenance update to our SmartDataCenter 6.5.3 Release, 6.5.3 OS Update 3 on our download site.

The image, along with the release notes is available in the following location:

https://download.joyent.com/partner/sdc/releases/latest/OS_Upgrade_3/

A complete list of the issues addressed are included in the release notes; however, I also wanted to alert you to the fact that this update, includes a fix for an identified security vulnerability in Open SSL (CVE-2012-2131)

We are recommending that users update to this release as they are able to address this vulnerability.

This is a platform image update only (only updates the live image on which the SMs / VMs are running - do not need to update the head node agents and services.)  Instructions for updating the platform image are included here:  http://sdcdoc.joyent.com/sdcdoc/display/sdc/Upgrading+the+Platform+...

Any questions or issues, please feel free to contact us here.

Thanks

Michael Lochead
